Dr. Borbala Schenk is an EU research funding advisor specialized in European research funding framework programmes (H2020, Horizon Europe). The focus of her consultancy work is to assist institutions in the EU-13/Widening countries in strengthening their presence on the EU research funding scene.

A lawyer by degree, Borbala has 15+ years of experience in research and university environments, having held management, lecturing and editorial positions. She has expertise and verified success in proposal writing, development and quality assurance in various European funding schemes (CSA, RIA, IA, Widening Participation, MSCA ITN, MSCA RISE, FET-Open, COST) programme with multiple impact sections written by her scoring 5/5 points.

She is an experienced trainer in research management, the topics of her trainings included: Supporting researchers in writing H2020 collaborative research proposals, Maximising research impact in H2020 projects, Coordinating H2020 research projects, How European partnerships work and Preparation for Horizon Europe. She has been an invited trainer and speaker at conferences and workshops for research managers in Brussels, Leuven, Budapest, Bologna, Lisbon and Zagreb. Since 2019 she provides in-house trainings and seminars designed specifically to the needs of her clients.

In 2019 Borbala has been elected as member of the Board as the highest governing body of the European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (EARMA). She is chairing the Policy and Representation Committee responsible for liaising with the European Commission and representing EARMA in the Horizon Europe development process and other EU funding stakeholder events.

As member of WG1 BESTPRAC – The Voice of Research Administrators TN 1302 COST Action she chaired the Impact and Stakeholder Engagement Group of the network of more than 600 research administrators. She is a member of the Core Group of the ERION network, a Europe-wide community for professionals in Research Ethics, Research Integrity and GDPR issues.

Borbala is the external quality assurance expert for the Innovative and smart module FOr potential Research Managers and Administrators in higher educaTION (foRMAtion) Erasmus+ project, member of the stakeholder expert group of Standard Operating Procedures for Research Integrity (SOPs4RI) H2020 project and has been an invited speaker of the Horizon Europe webinar series of the V4+WB Network of Research Managers and Administrators Visegrad Fund project.
